Skin Beauty Products for Summer

Ok, summer is coming quickly and I LOVE the sun. I’ve always loved it as a kid but when I got older I didn’t understand the importance of moisturizing my skin, using an SPF etc. I just thought that being a 20 year old (back then), I didn’t “need” to apply those things until I got older.

Wrong! The earlier you have a routine and take care of your skin during extreme heat in the summer, the better your skin will look over time.

I will be sharing with you a few of my skin beauty products for summer and a few items I found online that you could possibly try. Note I’m not a skin expert so this is what I’m sharing based on experience 🙂

Products I use and others you can try

1. Use an SPF face moisturizer

I realized recently I have super sensitive skin and cannot use any product with fragrance. I use the CeraVe AM facial moisturizing lotion with sunscreen to help my face stay moisturized and smooth without breaking out.

It’s an oil free, daily use moisturizer and hydrates the skin with hyaluronic acid. You can also try these other face moisturizers that have SPF.

Wearing a face moisturizer with SPF is highly suggested since it protects your skin and prevents the rays to damage it. There are so many products out there that offer combination moisturizers or separate sunscreen creams for your face. It’s definitely trial and error so research while you can.

LA Roche-Posay Double repair face moisturizer SPF 30

CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30

Neutrogena Healthy defense daily moisturizer SPF 50

2. All over Body Sunscreen

Dermatologists and doctors say that wearing sunscreen helps prevent skin cancer, wrinkles, evens skin tone, and many other benefits.

I recently switched over to this brand since another one was irritating my legs and I spray this all over my body minus my face. I love using this when I go out to the beach or know that I’ll be out in the sun for an extended period of time.

Neutrogena Beach Defense Sunscreen Spray

Aveeno Protect & Hydrate Sunscreen Body Lotion – SPF 60

Black Girl Sunscreen Broad Spectrum

Sun Bum Original Sunscreen Spray

3. Hydrate

Agua, agua agua!!! Drink LOTS of water. The more the better. They always say to keep yourself hydrated and your skin will thank you!

4. Lip scrub

I use this lip scrub from a friend who has her own small boutique. My lips get dry all season so to keep it smooth and soft I like to use a lip scrub to get the dry skin off. It also helps to use it when you want to apply lipstick after and your lips will look even better.

Honey bee Lip Scrub

Milani Rose Sugar Lip Scrub

Burt’s Bees Conditioning Lip Scrub

5. Body Oil + Body Scrub

I love to use a body oil to keep my skin moisturized. It penetrates into the skin barrier making it even more moisturized. You can also exfoliate your skin before to maximize the moisture. Currently I’m using the Dr. Teals pink himalayan salt scrub and it is amazing! The smell is so calming and I love using it in the shower and then using a body oil like this one to lock in moisture. Here are others you can try:

SheaMoisture Coconut Body Oil

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Oil Mist

Dr Teal’s Lavender Moisturizing Bath & Body Oil

Beloved Green Clay & Eucalyptus Body Scrub

Dr Teal’s Restore & Replenish Pink Himalayan Sea Salt Scrub

6. Wear a Hat

To prevent your face from getting sunburned more I suggest for you to ALWAYS wear a hat. The rays of the sun can be really strong and burn your skin. When I go out to the beach, or do long walks where the sun is right above me during the afternoon etc. I make sure to wear a hat to protect my face. I remember going to the beach in Cuba and did not wear anything to cover my forehead and I got a REALLY bad sunburn. Ever since I always wear a hat. Here are some cute ones I like to use when I go to the beach.

Women’s Bucket Hat

Women’s Straw Visor Hat

Women’s Packable Essential Striped Straw Floppy Hat

7. Try to visit a dermatologist if you can

Recently I went to a dermatologist because I had super dry skin on my pinky finger. The doctor told me I had a case of eczema and I thought that this could never happen to me! I already have allergies with my nose and she made me realize this could be another allergy that my body is sensitive to. She suggested that I had to change everything in my household that is clear of perfumes and then the lightbulb came on in my head. I would get bumps on my face before and after I switched over to products with no perfume my face has cleared. Going to her just confirmed everything I kind of knew was wrong with my skin but she was right on everything!

Sometimes going to the dermatologist you’ll be able to understand your skin better and take better care of it. If you are able to afford it I would suggest going.

Summer skin ready!

Hopefully this small list of skin beauty products to use for summer has helped. Make sure you do your research based on your skin type. Taking care of your skin is essential during the summer and all throughout the year. It’s like doing a bit of self care for yourself 🙂 a little skin love won’t hurt and it will build your confidence as well.
