My must-have hospital bag essentials! I remember trying to figure out what to bring during the first time I had my baby and now that I have my second baby, I figured why not add some essentials to this list. This was the bare minimum and these were my must haves!
Even as a second-time mom, I knew I still didn’t get it right when packing the second time as I still had too many things but when it comes to delivering a baby you never know! Pack as you please!
Hospital Bag Essentials
- Expandable suitcase– It was easy to walk around to and out of the hospital with my things instead of lugging around a bag. You can fit more things in there too!
- Newborn Swaddle set– You definitely want to have cute pictures of your baby
- Diffuser-It was nice to use this with my favorite lavender essential oil. The nurses loved coming in my room and it was relaxing!
- Itzy Ritzy Pacifier– To each their own but I like to use a pacifier for my kids. You’ll definitely be going through a lot of these to see which one your baby likes.
- Kindred Bravely Labor and Delivery Gown– I wore this more after the hospital since I felt like I couldn’t move much due to labor but if you want to take photos with your baby and have a nice gown this was the most comfortable one. It’s easy to breastfeed with the gown and the velcro and buttons makes it easy for nurses to access the epidural and cords.
- Phone charger– A must so you don’t run out of battery! Get the 10 ft. long cable so that it can reach you on the hospital bed.
- Comfy socks-It gets cold in the hospital so these were very comfortable to wear.
- Shower slippers– keep your feet from touching the hospital floor with these comfy shower slippers.
- Body butter- After delivery and showering, I wanted to feel somewhat normal and using a body butter was comforting for me.
- Baby Announcement Sign– Bring a pen and write down those precious details for baby and take a photo!
- Ministax camera fuji film– I loved using this when I had my baby, the pictures came out so cute and a great way to have little photos on the spot.
- Going home outfit- Bring a comfy going home outfit like joggers or a loose dress.
- Breast pads– just in case you are breastfeeding and want to prevent leaks.
- Nursing Bras-You can never have enough!
- Belly Support Recovery Wrap– I used this after I had my first daughter and it was great! I bought the same one for my second baby and loved how flexible it was and breathable.
