How? Minimal Essential Wardrobe Tips

Choosing a wardrobe to go out can be a fun/dreadful thing to look forward to. Trust, I love to go out but when it comes to picking an outfit, sometimes I feel like I have nothing to wear!

I would always buy bottoms without a matching top or a top without matching bottoms and it would be so annoying!

I had to be strategic about what I was going to wear and only wear. I wanted my outfits to be simple but classy.

This is where I’ll give you the scoop on how to be conscious of the essential items you should have. I will help you find minimal essential outfit pieces to have for any occasion so that you have these items in your closet and won’t have to scramble!

Essential Wardrobe Items

Have neutral color choices

First tip is to create a color selection of clothing items that are neutral. I feel like wearing these colors will ALWAYS create a classic look and you’ll always have something to wear it with. I love tans, blacks, beige whatever your skin tone is try to match with it. Also pick clothing items where you can always match with the bottoms or tops. That way you have options.

You need the options so that if something doesn’t look too good, you can swap it out.

Heels: Wear them in the neutral color palette

Recently I just bought a pair of clear heels. I know this trend has been out for some time now but I could never find something that looked right and not too cheap. I found these heels from Jluxlabel and love them!

Wearing a nude, black or clear heel will always make your outfit flattering and you can always grab them on the go!

A Little black dress

Ooo I love a classic little black dress 🙂 I try to have a minimum of atleast three or four or five plus on  hand haha. Finding dresses that have a ruched design throughout the dress in the stomach area will hide whatever you need. I also love dresses that have puffy shoulders as it’s the trend now and something right on the knees. It’s always classy.

Pants, skirt or shorts

If I don’t feel like wearing a dress, I’ll opt for pants, a skirt or shorts.  For pants, the key is to wear pants that will elongate your legs and flatter your legs. If you know you can’t wear certain materials don’t. I know I can’t wear super thin material since it just makes my shape look weird. Grab a material that is somewhat thick and smooth.

Wear clothes that LOVE your shape

Now not everything will look great on everyone, I’d say try on clothes that will flatter YOUR body type. I’ve seen all shapes and sizes of women who have perfected their clothing choices to accentuate what looks great on them! You don’t have to be a size 2 to have anything look good on you. It’s all trial and error in figuring out what looks great on you. Once you  perfect that, then your choices of clothes will be a breeze and your wardrobe selection will  be bombbb 🙂

I also found a link here that can guide you on what to wear according to your body shape.

Buy clothes ahead of time!

Buy clothes you really love online or in the store and get them!!! (inserts running woman emoji) I know several times where I thought I could buy something and would wait for a few days if I liked it but……listen, it will be gone girl and you will be upset! This has happened to me several times and now I just buy whatever I like right away! If you don’t love it then you can always return it.

When you start to purchase wardrobe essentials that will go with any occasion, you will have OPTIONS! Plan ahead and you won’t feel overwhelmed and question yourself like why don’t I have anything!?

I’m tired of playing that game, give yourself some options.

Wear minimal jewelry

The trend right now is minimal and modern. I hope this trend doesn’t go away! I love the simplicity and this type of jewelry will always make your outfit pop with femininity.

Ok! You’re ready for a new minimal essential wardrobe!

I hope this helps you, I know from experience I’ve had MANY MANY times where I’m going through my closet and not finding squat! Then my husband patiently waits, watches a movie, and has a drink lol. I wasn’t being strategic with my clothes and this strategy has helped me a lot. You can mix and match everything since neutral colors can go with anything.

So next time you’re out on date night, or another occasion and just need to wear essentials to glam them up, hopefully, this gave you some guidance.
