SAHM wanting to make money
Being a stay-at-home mom for five years has been wonderful…..but let me tell you not having my own money to spend on things that I wanted was driving me crazy.
I always worked since the age of 15 and when I had my kids, we decided that I would be home and it changed my brain chemistry—in a not-so-good way AND I had sick inlaws so I had to stay home.
I craved the need to have financial freedom even though my husband provided for us, I wanted something for me.
Imagine being able to swipe your bank card at the store to buy a purse you wanted and know the money used was your own because you earned that yourself! (It’s happened to me because of this affiliate program!)
Between 50-70% of stay-at-home moms create a side hustle outside of taking care of the family and I can understand we want to create financial stability, get outside of routine, have something for ourselves, or whatever you want to create.
And it’s nice to know you’re creating a skill that you can have forever while earning money online.
This affiliate program is the best way to get your feet wet in monetizing online and it’s legit.
I’ve always been the type to question affiliate programs and see if they work but this one has been consistent every month.
What is the Amazon Affiliate Program?
I came across the Amazon Affiliate program when I started my social media journey on Instagram and never used it.
I’m shaking my head as I should have started then. But hey we learn!
I started this program in 2021 because every influencer had it but didn’t use it at all because I was all over the place with affiliate links. But this has changed,
To start this affiliate program you have to be a content creator on a social media platform.
The application process is simple and I’m not sure how rigorous the application process is but I know it’s not as difficult as it was before.
I’m seeing more creators use this program!
There are many YouTube/TikTok videos where people talk about how they applied and got accepted on the platform. There’s so much information out there you’ll be able to find it just search “how to get accepted into the Amazon affiliate program”
Once you get accepted, you can set up your storefront where you can add product recommendations, create video reviews, and copy links to add to your IG stories, blog posts, IG posts, and all social media platforms.
I love how easy it is to copy links from products, paste it into a social platform, and see which products are creating commissions.
There is a program called Creator University within Amazon where you can learn how to grow your audience, make commissions and it provides helpful tips.
If you begin with authentic recommendations to your audience, they’ll start to trust you and can earn more that way.
I like to recommend products I use and help people, it makes me feel better that I can provide something for them but if you want to promote anything, it’s your store!
Everyone shops on Amazon so you might as well monetize it and make use of all the products you use!
How I Started Making Money with Amazon Affiliate
Ok let’s get into the nitty gritty, how did I make money with this program?
I started watching Tiktok videos about monetizing online since I wanted to make money on my channel and was tired of working for a brand for one payment and continuing the tireless cycle.
I wanted to make money in my sleep.
Passive income is the goal…and will always be the goal.
That was when I came across a TikTok video of someone talking about how they made commissions every month on their platform–I thought hmmm, why not give it a try?
In 2023 I never would have thought to try it but something made me do it. My first video to go viral was this Dr. Brown bottle mixer with almost 500k views and although the commission was tiny I thought the views were amazing.
This sparked an idea.
I figured ok, I should try posting this balloon arch video to show people this product I was obsessed about.
I had no strategy, didn’t have expectations, and wanted to see how this video would turn out.
Once I posted that video the views were high! Commissions on this video made me $700 for the month and I remember making $90 in one day and I was shooketh.
What?! $700 bucks, I couldn’t believe I made money online.
Commissions are paid out in 60 days, so when the deposit hit my account and got a notification on my phone I didn’t think this was real!
I NEVER would have thought I could make money online this easily and I manifested making money in my sleep.
This opened my eyes to more opportunities in ways I could make more money with this affiliate program. I wanted to see how much I could make.
This can be YOU too and make more than I did.

How To Start Creating Amazon Review Videos
Consistency is key in this game. When I was consistent for 2 months after my viral video making $700 I was averaging about $400-$500 per month making videos of anything around my house.
Disclaimer I think I uploaded around 20 videos.
There was a time when I stopped posting for 3 months and I was still earning money in the low $200 range and I thought it was nice to have that amount doing nothing.
But I’m NOT telling you to do that if you want to see your income grow over time.
Ok Michelle so how do I create Amazon video reviews?
I’ll share with you how I exactly do it and here is my amazon storefront for you to check out.
Let’s get into it:
I started posting anything I had in my house that I could find if it was purchased on Amazon.
THEN I realized It doesn’t need to be from Amazon. If they have the product on Amazon and you bought it from another store its ok.
Take whatever products you can find from your aunties house, neighbor’s house, whoever! Make sure you review it!
Tip: Go through your order list on your Amazon account and see the things you’ve bought and review them.
Use your phone, nothing fancy and record for a minimum of 20 seconds, use a voice over or you can also do a review with your face on it holding the product. Make sure you’re showing the product!
Edit your video on Capcut or whatever editing app you use.
Create a thumbnail on Canva. I’ve created one and use the same template everytime to save me time. I screen shot a part of the video of me holding the product and use that as my thumbnail. Below is a reference:
A thumbnail is the cover of the video where people can see what product you’re talking about and it make your storefront look aesthetically pleasing.
People use arrows pointing at the product and bright colors. Test these out and don’t get stuck on making it perfect.
When reviewing the product, talk about what makes it good and the qualities of it. Don’t mention price. Your script doesn’t need to be long but highlight the good parts.
The key is to start.

If you want to take it a step further, create a separate social media account about your Amazon finds with more views on Instagram and Tiktok. I’ve done this and it has gained me commissions on there.
Final thoughts
This is great for you to earn money as a SAHM with this affiliate program and start the side hustle you’ve been looking for.
And this is just one stream of income, you can create multiple.
It’s easy with the only effort of building an audience on your social media account if you don’t have one already and apply on their site .
